Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering an old grand piano hidden in the attic. She was fascinated by its capabilities. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes urged her to use music for the sake of personal development, and not for the purpose of making money or for as a hobby. Thus, she began her own compositions. As well as Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. The singer decided to perform the songs she wrote publicly after her mother suggested that they can help other people, not be famous with her work, but instead help people see around them realize the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. She was suggested by her mother to be able to perform her music publicly in order to help people realize the importance of their work and how they could impact the world. Her family didn't hear about her musical journey until she was fourteen. Aurora's success was never her dream. Her only passion is to write music. For her, music is the only method of feeling anything.
